The Ellwood House Museum is thrilled to present the next STEM Café, part of Northern Illinois STEAM.
Architecture is the intersection of art and science. This can be seen in the homes we live in and adore. Learn more at this special STEM Café dedicated to American architecture at the historic Ellcourt House – a 1900 Tudor revival style mansion on the grounds of DeKalb’s Ellwood House.
Join us to learn how to distinguish venerable styles like the bungalow, Second Empire, Greek Revival, Mid-Century Modern and more. We’ll also explore the building innovations and technologies that influenced these styles and their unique qualities.
If you’re a home enthusiast interested in architecture, interior design, design history or building construction, this STEM Café is for you.
This is a ticketed event, limited to 50 attendees, with catering provided by Fatty’s. Tickets are $30 per person.
Speaker:
Andrew Wanek, ALA, Licensed Architect, Volunteer Docent, and Board Member of Frank Lloyd Wright's Laurent House in Rockford
